Edmund Kelleher was the first owner of this lot being Lot 12 Sec 1 of Morwell Township.
A hotel was built on part of the lot ( see 192 – 194) and a store on the corner of Tarwin Street.
David Donaldson was the storekeeper until John Hall acquired the business in 1894 and continued until sold to William Martin in 1922.
Not long after the business was sold to D.C. Mills in 1924. The frontage was changed a number of times as the occupiers upgraded their business.
Part of the frontage was changed into two shops with No. 196 having a number of different occupants.
Some of these were C.G. Maxwell; J. Williams; Les Finlay; E Muir; H. Verey and Ted Dunlop. In 1969 the Faulkner family converted the whole area into a liquor and gourmet shop which they conducted until 1986 when they moved to another shop further east on Commercial Road.
In 1987 the building was demolished and a new building of four shops constructed on the site. Keith Williams, Real Estate occupied the corner and later the name changed to K.W. Real Estate.
