In 1878 T.J. Matingley purchased this site being Lot 1 Sec. 2 and on the corner part a hotel was built, ‘The Morwell’. Christy Walsh was the first licensee.
In 1892 a new Post Office was built on the site and was demolished in 1955. That year, the Commonwealth Bank purchased the site and the bank was opened in 1957.
