Edmund Kelleher built the first wooden hotel on this site in 1879 and the present hotel building was built in 1886 by Mr Tulloch for Mr Kelleher and was known as the ‘Club Hotel’.
It was constructed of brick and was two storey. Later the hotel was extended to Tarwin Street (behind Halls Store). Some of the licensees were Kelleher; Reidy; Tory; Nomnus; Clark; Conlan and McKay. In 1965 the street verandah was removed and the frontage altered.The face of the premises has changed a few times including La Mor Restaurant.
